Position Overview

The Account Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing client relationships within a medical stop-loss captive program. This role involves collaborating with employers, brokers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and captive members to ensure the effective administration of self-funded health plans protected by stop-loss insurance. The position requires a blend of client service, analytical skills, and insurance expertise to support cost containment, risk management, and client satisfaction.

How You’ll Contribute

• Client Management: Act as the primary contact for clients, fostering relationships and providing updates on captive performance.
• Program Oversight: Manage daily operations, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with captive and regulatory guidelines.
• Data & Reporting: Analyze claims data and prepare reports on financial outcomes and risk trends for clients.
• Risk & Cost Strategies: Support clients with risk mitigation, wellness programs, and plan design to optimize costs and outcomes.
• Renewal Support: Assist in renewals, propose competitive terms, and identify growth opportunities within the captive.
• New Participant Onboarding: Guide new captive participants through new business documentation, ensuring timely receipt, policy and captive setup, and education on expectations.

What You’ll Need
• B.A./B.S. in Business or a related field.
• At least two years’ experience in a business development role (insurance or stop loss experience preferred)
• Ability and willingness to travel multiple times a year, which will include overnight stays for corporate gatherings, conferences, and health fairs.
• Ability to attend and professionally engage in video meetings.
• Strong technological skills, meaning you can effectively and efficiently use computers, peripheral equipment, and applications/systems, including Microsoft products.
• Autonomous self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity.
• Creative mindset and ability to appropriately challenge the status quo.
• Superb written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to overcome obstacles with a ‘yes if...’ approach.
• Ability to effectively balance competing deadlines without losing focus on the bigger picture.
• Reliable internet and power with a designated area to conduct work with minimal interruptions.
